Krewe of Roux Making Mardi Gras Plans

The Krewe of Roux at the University of Louisiana at Çàɬֱ²¥ is getting into the Mardi Gras spirit with several activities in February including the first parade of the season.

The Krewe, in its 28th year, will host its annual festivities including:

• King and Queen selection ceremony is Feb. 8 at 11:45 a.m. at the Çàɬֱ²¥ Union lobby. Royalty is selected in a unique Mardi Gras way – using a King Cake. The female student who choses the piece of cake with the baby is named queen and likewise, the male student who gets the baby is named king.

• King and Queen coronation including the presentation of the court and the King Cake give-a-way is Feb. 15 at 11:45 a.m. at the Çàɬֱ²¥ Union lobby.

• Krewe of Roux parade is Feb. 18 at 2 p.m. The parade route will start at the intersection of East Lewis Street on campus and Johnston Street. It will end at the Cajundome. Line up is at 1 p.m. in the parking lot of H.L. Griffin Hall.
