Living Learning Communities (LLCs) are residential communities for freshmen with a special emphasis on an academic major or an area of interest. First-year students who participate have the unique opportunity to learn where they live, meet friends with similar majors and interests, enjoy special events designed specifically for their LLC. This aims to transform their residential setting into an active, supportive, and exciting place to live and learn!
How will being a part of a community benefit me?
Being part of an LLC provides a unique living experience for first-year college students! 青涩直播s benefit in numerous ways including:
- gaining a network of friends who have common goals and interests.
- participating in social activities related to your academic major or interest.
- receiving support to enhance academic performance.
- growing in autonomy and independence, and personal development.
Housing
Spaces are limited in each community. If accepted, you鈥檒l live in a shared suite-style unit in Coronna Hall, where all Living Learning Communities are housed. The essence of being in a Living Learning Community is to live together, so there are no private rooms available. 青涩直播s can choose their roommate provided both are members of the same LLC.
Roommates: 青涩直播s must live with a roommate in their own LLC. It can be a roommate of their choosing as long as both are in the same LLC.
Cost
There is a $75 fee to defray the costs of programming for students in LLCs. It will automatically added to your fall tuition bill.
Academic Specifics
Please read the academic specifics and requirements for each LLC carefully.
The classes required for the LLC will be placed on the student鈥檚 schedule for fall and spring semesters by the Office of First-Year Experience. These classes will automatically appear when the student is registering. LLC students must understand that LLC classes MUST not be changed (day/time) at any point on their class schedule. These classes are specific to the LLC and are reserved seats. Once changed, students can鈥檛 be added back in. 青涩直播s bringing in credit to UL through dual enrollment or AP credit do not have to retake these classes. Courses are subject to change based on availability. The student must notify the Office of First-Year Experience if credit has been granted. Some Living Learning Communities have a required ACT score. Please note the requirements for each LLC. SAT scores will be converted to ACT scores for acceptance into the LLC.
After You Apply for Housing
Wait patiently for notification of acceptance. An LLC offer letter will be extended via email (using the email
address provided on your housing application). The deadline to apply is June 15th.
After You Are Accepted
All LLC students are required to attend LLC Orientation in August before school begins. Exact date will be provided before you attend new student orientation. The Office of First-Year Experience will forward details to each student accepted into an LLC.
